In recent years, the application of elastic couplings in diesel power devices has been increasing. It uses elastic components such as elastic plate assembly to transmit torque and provide elasticity and damping in the direction of torsion.

It consists of active and driven assembly, as well as a roller bearing in the middle. The spline shaft of the active assembly is connected to the crankshaft. The driven assembly consists of fastening ring, middle ring, limit block, and elastic plate component that is pressed and formed. The middle ring and fastening ring are tapered fit, and 16 sets of elastic plate components and 16 limit blocks are tightly clamped together by pressing, forming an elastomer assembly. The connection flange is connected to the shaft of generator. The 16 sets of elastic plate components are inserted into the spline groove to transmit torque in an elastic form. At the same time, due to its flexibility, it can alleviate the vibration and impact of the driving shaft, and also play a frequency modulation role. The elastic coupling is filled with oil inside, which plays a role in damping, lubrication, and heat dissipation.

Due to the irreversibility of the diesel engine, the elastic plate component is made into an asymmetric type according to the force requirements, with 6 pieces in each group. Among them, 2 pieces of equal length (also the longest) are the main plates. In order to improve wear resistance, surface quenching is used at the head of the main plate that extends into the spline shaft. All sub film heads are locally thinned to increase elasticity and reduce stress. The elastic plates are made of 50CrVA steel, and each elastic plate is padded with a 0.2mm thick bronze gasket to reduce damping during deformation
of the elastic plate component and prevent scratches on the elastic plates. Each elastic plate component is threaded together by two elastic cylindrical pins with a diameter of 8mm.

Elastic coupling also has the following advantages:
